The
Road to Glory Starts Here!
Each year, our league has the opportunity to
field an All-Star team
that is eligible to play in the Little League World Series in
Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Chino Hills Little League always recognizes
the best players of our league via the All Stars. All-stars are
nominated by the players and managers near the end of the regular
season and are selected to the team via a vote of the League's
managers. All-star managers and
coaches are selected by the Board of Directors through the
recommendations of the All-Star Committee.
Keep track of the progress of all of our All-Star teams right here.
All tournaments start on June 21st except for the 11/12
All-Stars who will start on June 28th.

another good game behind the plate and threw out a player attempting to

run. Carrillo went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI's, and Evinger went 2 for 5 with
4 RBI's. Jair Donovan laid down a spectacular bunt for a base hit and

looks bright. Great job, team!

Game Summaries:
June 21, 2008 - Chino
Hills (1-0) started their tournament with a 7-5 win over
the Chino
American All-Stars under a
scorching sun at Bon View
Park in Ontario. Andy Vrtar pitched 5.1 innings, striking
out five batters before being replaced by Jacob Botello, who earned the
save by striking out the potential winning run at the plate.
On offense, the Shooting Stars were led by Dustin Wickwire,
who hit a 3-run homer, and Chazz Eldridge who went 3
for 4 including a double. On defense, Botello had
several key assists at the hot corner, and Josh Preli made a difficult
catch in left field looking into a very bright sun.
June 23, 2008 - Jacob
Botello pitched 4.2 strong innings, striking out nine while giving up
only one run, and Matthew
Viloria had a double and a triple to lead
Chino
Hills (2-0) to their second consecutive tournament victory, 4-1, over a
very
tough Upland
National team at Bon View
Park in Ontario. Ben Long had a key RBI to give Chino Hills
some breathing room. Buster Johnson entered the game with two out in
the fifth inning and shut down the opposition, striking out four
batters, to earn the save.
June 26, 2008
- The Upland Foothill All-Stars, capitalizing on numerous
errors in the first inning, scored seven times on the way to defeating
Chino Hills, 13-8. Chino Hills (2-1) came back to score six runs in the
second inning, thanks to RBI triples by Chazz Eldridge and Dustin
Wickwire and an RBI single by Alex Baez, but ultimately it would not be
enough. Eldridge also doubled in the top of the first inning and came
in to score on an RBI single by Adam Cendejas to give the Shooting
Stars a brief 1-0 lead. Matthew Viloria also had an RBI single. Brice
Hoenisch was able to slow down the Upland offense, allowing only one
earned run in 3.1 innings of work on the mound.
June 30, 2008

Game Summaries:
June 28, 2008 - Chino
Hills (1-0) started down the road to the Little League World series
with an opening win over Ontario Eastern, 6-5, in the District 23
tournament held at San Antonio Park in Upland. In gut-wrenching
fashion, the last out of the game was recorded at home plate on a
strong throw from Michael Green to Shawn Warren. In addition to his
assist that ended the game, Green had what proved to be the winning
hit, a line shot 2-run home run to center field. The victory was truly
a team
win with every player contributing in some way, either with the bat or
the glove. Tim McGetrick struck out seven in 4.1 innings. Quintin
Cardenas picked up the save, striking out four in just 1.2 innings in
relief. Cardenas and Rafael Gonzalez provided solid middle infield play
but the defensive play of the night was an aerial acrobatic catch in
deep right centerfield made by Grant Nudo. Cardenas, Warren, and
McGetrick were the hitting stand-outs with two hits a piece. Those in
attendance witnessed an overall outstanding team effort to kick off the
Major all star season.
June 30, 2008 - Chino
Hills tried to make it two in a row on Monday, but ran into a very
polished team from Upland Foothill. Despite giving a good effort, Chino
Hills lost, 10-0. Chino Hills (1-1) is upbeat and looking forward to
taking the next step against Ontario Western.
July 2, 2008 - The
boys from Chino Hills (2-1) bounced back and played excellent ball
against Ontario Western to win, 10-0, in four innings. Tim McGetrick
and Michael Green combined for the shutout, pitching two innings each.
McGetrick, Green, Brian Franke and Alex Montoya all had multiple hits
to lead the offense.
July 3, 2008 -
Chino Hills lost a heartbreaker on Thursday in nine innings, 5-4. After the game,
Little League District 23 Chief Umpire Alex Marrujo described the game as the best-played Little League
game he had witnessed at any level in the past five years.
Tim
McGetrick and Quintin Cardenas both gave great pitching performances
and the defense was outstanding, led by Rafael Gonzalez with six
assists and highlighted by Brian Franke's diving catch in center
field.
McGetrick hit a homerun in the first inning to give the Shooting Stars
an early 1-0 lead. Jim Barkley's
dramatic home run with one man on in the sixth tied the score
at 3-3 to send the game into extra innings. The next three
innings were a seesaw
battle with both teams having chances to win, but unable to capitalize
until the top of the ninth, when
Gonzalez doubled with two outs and Jacob Beltz followed with a single
to give the Chino Hills All-stars a 4-3 lead. Ultimately the lead was short-lived, as Chino National rallied and scored twice in the bottom
of the ninth to win the game. Cardenas, Franke, Gonzalez and
Alex Montoya all had multiple hits to lead the offense. Chino Hills finished tournament play at 2-2. Regardless of the final
outcome, it was a gutty, well played game and we are very proud of how
the boys played and the way they represented our league!

Game Summaries:
June 23, 2008 - Chino
Hills (0-1) lost their opening round game to Upland National at
Community Park, 8-2. Chris Iriart contributed three hits in three at
bats, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Upland National All-Stars.
June 28, 2008
- Chino
Hills (0-2) was eliminated from tournament play in an 8-6 loss to
Ontario Mountain View at
Westwind Park in Ontario. Tournament leaders on offense were
Ryan Barkley (3 for 7), Nathanael Schell (4 for 6) and Chris Iriart (4
for 6). Strong pitching performances were turned in by Curtis
Bourgouin, Tim Blum, and Schell. This year our Junior All-Star team
consisted of more than half the team being only 13 years-old. As a

2007
Chino
Hills LL 9/10
All-Stars
District
23 Champions!

July 18,
2007: After
defeating teams from Victorville, Alta Loma and Rialto, Chino
Hills 9/10 All-Stars battled District 71 Champions Alta Loma a second
time for the
Section 8 Championship and the right to be amongst the five
teams left in Southern California competing for a bid to play in the
California State Championship Series. Unfortunately the night was not
meant to be for the Chino Hills All-Stars. A night after previously
beating the same Alta
Loma team, 7-1, Chino Hills was defeated 11-1.
The
Chino
Hills Little League 9/10 All-Stars had a great run, earlier capturing
the District 23 title with a perfect 4-0 record. District 23 represents
13 Little League organizations across Chino HIlls, Chino, Ontario,
Upland, and Montclair. Our 9/10 All-Stars team finished 4-2
in the
Section 8 tournament.
Chino
Hills was the only team in District and Sectional play to have 5
nine-year olds in the starting lineup. Combined with the great 10 year
old players this team represented the city of Chino Hills like no
other.
